Welcome to the Bridge the City!

To those of you visiting our site for the first time: Welcome! Bridge the City is a calendar of techie, nerdy events happening around Austin, Texas. While there are lots of calendars out there, we feel like there aren't any focused on our nerdy friends, and that just won't do. (Besides, if anybody needs help making friends, it's us nerds, right?).

While we were putting this caledar together, we started thinking about how to make sure that these events (and others) are easier to find, and how to help people keep in touch with their old friends and make new ones while they're at it. We think we have some pretty good ideas about that and are working hard to make those ideas real.

That having been said, as we're building this platform, we would love your feedback. This calendar is meant to help you connect with people that share your interests, and if there's a way we can do that better, then please let us know. So have a look around, find new events, and meet some new people! And if you have something to say about our site -- an event we're missing, some bad information, an old family recipe for awesome that you want to share, or even a bug -- drop us a line. We'd love to hear what you're thinking! (And remember, this is still beta software. So please... be gentle!)

ABOUT:

"Someone told me to get on the web": Starting your first business website

For most small businesses, the toughest part of picking your first website is simply knowing which questions to ask. Learn how to assess your needs objectively and find a reputable provider to build and host your business web site. We'll also leave time at the end to discuss other questions and issues related to websites and e-commerce.

Sorry, but Bridge the City doesn't support Internet Explorer right now.

Why?

Right now we're focusing on building a better calendar, and that means we have to try a lot of new things. Fortunately, with their good support for advanced standards like HTML5 and CSS3, the browsers we currently support best -- Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome -- make trying new things easy. Internet Explorer, though, doesn't support these new standards well yet. So, rather than try to emulate in IE what other browsers can do with a few lines of code, we're using the best tools to make you the best calendar we can, as fast as we can.

Of course, once we get everything figured out, we'll start phasing IE support in, but in the meantime please use Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and so on.

Enjoy Bridge the City. We hope you like what we've built for you!
